Time Flies When You're Having Fun! ... Or Just Busy

Hi everyone!  Hope you had a good weekend!  Mine was busy, but lots of fun.  Here's a recap.

Friday ...

Friday night the first thing I did when I walked in the house was to pour a glass of wine.  It was necessary.

Then we made dinner!  Similar to last week, we had some burgers that we picked up at a supermarket, then made our own buns with avocado, tomato, lettuce, onion, sour cream, cheese and salsa.  We found some Mexican beef burgers at Woolworths in the Jamie Oliver range.
I was really impressed!  These were lean (hardly any fat ran out on the George Foreman - especially compared to last week), and full of good Mexican flavours.  I'd definitely have these again.

And with that, I was out like a light in about 5 minutes.

Saturday ...

Saturday I was up early to get in a 15km run at the gym.    This was the longest run I've done in a few months, and it felt really good!  I even kept up a slightly faster pace for awhile.  My knee pulled up fine.  Very happy!

Then I had to hot foot it to my hairdresser to get a touch up for the wedding next weekend (eeek - how exciting!).  What do you think?

While I was there I ate my breakfast which I grabbed on my way out of the door - my super mixed grain porridge made into 30 minute oats with natural yoghurt, with a little milk on top.  I put it into a little plastic container, and took it with me and a spoon and at in the hairdressers' chair.  She said it looked super healthy!  It was :)

Then I tried AGAIN to do some Christmas shopping.  I wandered around the shopping centre until it got too busy to bear any longer.  I went to a different local area to drop off some dry cleaning, and finally managed to decide on a present to buy.  I'm off!

When I got home I whipped up my favourite weekend egg breakfast for lunch - eggs on a bagel with tomato, cream cheese and avocado.  You can't beat it.

Then it was time for me to take my husband on a date!  During the week I had suggested we have a mystery date on Saturday arvo because we would be pretty crazy busy for the next few weeks.  I kept it a surprise, so Gareth didn't know what to expect.  So in the end I took us ....

Bowling!  We went to Kingpin at Crown Casino (Gareth thought we were going to see a movie!). We have never been bowling together (I don't think I've been for maybe 15 years!), so it was pretty fun.  I won the first game, and then we drew the second.  But Gareth was too good in the third.  I think that means we are pretty evenly matched!

The we headed home for our usual Saturday night activities - takeaway and a movie.  And wine :)  Tonight the choices were Ride Along (ok - I laughed more than I thought I would - it was kind of like Rush Hour), and Thai from Fresh Chili - SO YUM.  We had red curry, beef with chili paste and stir fried vegies, rice, and some appetisers.  It is the best Thai in our area.

After a couple of glasses of wine, I was again out for the count in about 5 minutes.

Sunday ...

Sunday morning was again hitting the gym, this time to do another round of NROLFW Stage 3, Workout B.  My favourite exercises in this workout are the back extensions and single leg squats.  They work so good!

The weather today is cold and dreary - overcast with misty rain all day.  So when I got home, I felt like my mixed grain porridge.  I added a nectarine and some milk after it cooked.  Totally hit the spot!

Then it was time to get back to the shops for another round of Christmas shopping.  This time, I was very successful.  I knocked off four presents from my list, and even did a few wedding related tasks.  My wallet is hurting, but I was feeling much better!

In the afternoon, we went to a new Woolworths that opened up in our estate to check it out.  I was starving because it was about 4pm and I still hadn't had lunch.  Bad move.  We spent a fortune!  It was all good food, but everything looked appealing in my hungry state.  Oh well - more reason to eat at home and bring my food to work this week.

I actually got some sushi from the sushi bar in the supermarket to have for a late lunch, which was also really yummy.  I had spicy raw tuna and tataki beef.  It is going to be really convenient to have sushi as an option for a quick dinner on the way home from work.

Oh, and Angus also had a haircut this weekend!  Doesn't he look good!  Nice and short, ready for the summer heat.

We finally got Telstra ADSL internet connected at home, so this evening I'll be blogging.  Dinner is another Jamie Oliver meal, so I'll let you know how that one is tomorrow.

Have a good night!  Hope you're ready for another big week :)

Have you been bowling recently?  Do you like it?  How is your Christmas shopping coming along?

  1. Bowling is so fun! I haven't gone in a long time. Going to start my Christmas shopping tonight!

    1. Good luck with the shopping! At least in my world, the shopping centres are already starting to get a bit crazy! :)
