Product Review: Who Gives A Crap!

Have you ever thought about how much toilet paper your household goes through?  I mean, even with just Gareth and I, we probably go through on average 6 rolls a week. That's a lot of toilet paper, and a lot of money we spend on it!

It was just coincidental that my friend told me about a company that one of her friend's started, called Who Gives A Crap.  I always like to support local business, and especially one that has a fun name.  What really convinced me to give Who Gives A Crap a try was much more than toilet paper.

About Who Gives A Crap

The owners of Who Gives A Crap, promise to:

Flush Poverty Down the Loo

When they found out 40% of the world’s population don’t have access to a toilet, which is a leading contributor to endemic poverty and is a major drag on economic growth in some of the world's poorest countries they thought 'that’s pretty crap'. So they give 50% of their profits to WaterAid to build toilets and improve sanitation in the developing world.

Make Every Wipe Count

Just because we need to wipe shouldn't mean we wipe out the planet. Who Gives A Crap only uses 100% recycled post consumer waste fibres in their toilet paper, which saves on trees, water and landfill, and we are doing our bit to help keep our planet great.

Be Good for Your Bum

They don’t use any chlorine, inks, dyes or weird perfumes in their toilet paper. It is biodegradable, safe in septic tanks and as strong as it is silky soft. And really, what more does your bum need?

Here is some info about what they have achieved so far:

So I decided to give them a go.  I bought their most economic package - the 48 pack of double rolls. Delivery was free, and it arrived the next day!

I'm going to be honest - it wasn't particularly cheap, but it was roughly equivalent per roll (considering I have double length rolls) as what you can buy in the local supermarket.  You can see all the prices here.  You can even set up a subscription service to receive new deliveries at regular intervals, depending on the number of people who live in your household!

What first made me smile was the wrapping - it's fun!  No more plain white toilet rolls in my bathroom - I have some fun, colourful designs.

The actual quality of the paper is good - I'd say the best recycled toilet paper I've ever tried.  It's slightly off white, but it's soft and thick.  Just what your bum wants.

So far we've definitely seen the efficiency of getting the double roll length - it's living up to it's name and taking twice as long to get through a roll.

I'm really happy with my decision to try Who Gives A Crap toilet paper!  The box we bought is going to last for AGES, and we're doing something good for the world at the same time.

I wasn't paid or provided with products to review - I just wanted to share a local product and company that I like!

How do you choose your toilet paper? Recycled? Cost? Pattern? Brand?
