This is another jam packed weekend of events in Melbourne. I think March is the best time of year to be in Melbourne, so if you're thinking about visiting, now is the time! Although I can't do them all, here are some events I think sound great ... maybe I'll just raincheck a couple for next year!
Good Beer Week Gala Showcase
Here is one for the beer lover! The 2015 Good Beer Week Gala Showcase takes place across three sessions on March 13 & 14 at Fitzroy Town Hall - although there are only tickets available at the Saturday arvo session left. Although it's a bit pricey ($40 online or $45 at the door), with each ticket you receive 20(!) x 60ml beer samples and a food voucher to use at the awesome Food Trucks stationed out front. There will once again be free masterclass programs, as well as the People's Choice Awards. Want do to some beer tasting this weekend??
2015 Formula 1 Grand Prix
Every year we say we want to go to the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix at Albert Park, but being so close to my birthday (next week!), I usually have other plans. Maybe you could go! Apart from F1 races, there are other races, including Carrera Cup, Heritage Touring Cars, V8 Supercars, as well as jet air displays. And that's just on the race track - there is also heaps of off track entertainment, including the Golf Course Precinct, Sailing regattas, Legends Lane music stage and V8 Village. So take your ear plugs, and see what all the hype is about!
Melbourne International Coffee Expo
I LOVE LOVE LOVE coffee, so this expo definitely caught my attention! The 2015 Melbourne International Coffee Expo features over 100 exhibitors showcasing the latest in coffee technology, host national coffee competitions and offer world-class coffee education to all. From 10am both Saturday and Sunday at the Melbourne Showgrounds, The National Coffee Championships will crown Australia's best barista, the winner going on to represent Australia at the World Barista Championships later in the year. Also on offer will be the title for best Latte artist - a competition judged solely on the the artistic presentation of coffee and milk. My mouth is watering!
Melbourne Cake Expo
If you need a bit more convincing to head to the Melbourne Showgrounds for the International Coffee Expo, you will also be able to check out the Melbourne Cake Expo right next door - you can even buy joint entry tickets! Whether you are a baker or eater, at the expo you can visit cake related stalls, watch cake decorating competitions, take cake cooking classes and watch cake demonstrations. Not to mention lots of free cake! Sign me up!
Arnold Classic and Expo
For a change of pace of expos from eating to exercising, The Arnold Classic is being held at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre all weekend. This includes both the International Federation of Bodybuilders competition, and an expo, that features the latest in supplements, fitness equipment, apparel and more. It is a multi sport event, including anything from kettlebell championships to all styles martial arts. Definitely something for everyone. FYI: I'm going for the free booty!
Breakfast Around the Tan
Grab your family and friends — it’s time to get active. On Sunday morning at the Breakfast Around the Tan, you take a leisurely stroll around the leafy greenery of the Royal Botanic Gardens (the Tan), with pit stops at five breakfast stations filled with nutritious breakfast options to kick-start your day. All-ages activities will be on offer at the start and end of the walk, including yoga and lifestyle sessions. Melbourne Food and Wine will donate 5% of your ticket price to Diabetes Australia - Vic. This sounds like a total win to me!
Which event would you choose to go to?
