Anyway, here are a few things going on around Melbourne this weekend that might be fun to check out. Enjoy!
Rock Berry Jam
Rock Berry Jam is the Yarra Valley’s newest open air rock concert, bringing people together to enjoy great rock music, being held at the Wandin East Reserve, kicking off from 1:30pm. What really caught my attention was the line up of Aussie rock stars, including Jon Stevens, Daryl Braithwaite, Black Sorrows, Ross Wilson, Jason Singh and The Flaming Moes – all the music I remember listening to from the back of my Dad's Kingswood in the 80s. You can take a picnic, or buy something there. If the weather holds out, this has all the makings of a great day out!
Twilight Fun Run & Cinema Under the Stars
If I wasn't running on Sunday morning, I'd be at this event! The City of Dandenong has combined two events on Saturday evening in Tirhatuan Park on the same night, and they both sound awesome. Firstly, you can join in the 3, 5 or 8km fun runs around the park from 5:30pm. Make sure you get there a bit early to register! Afterwards, you can rest and recovery while watching Frozen in the Open Air Cinema (I still haven't seen that movie!!). There will be heaps of family friendly entertainment (including a BBQ). And guess what, both events are free!
Run for the Kids
This is where I will be from about 8am on Sunday morning. The Herald Sun Run for the Kids has a variety of running and walking events, and I love that you get to run over the Bolte Bridge. Even though it's a tough hill, the views are incredible. The event also supports the Good Friday Appeal, raising funds for the Royal Children's Hospital. Why don't you come and find me?? :)
Are you a twin, or you do have family members who are twins? This Sunday, the biggest Twins Festival in the southern hemisphere will be held at Caufield Racecourse from 10am. It’s a huge action-packed day of entertainment for all ages and families, identical and non-identical pairs, celebrating all-things-twins and multiple births. I know this events sounds pretty limited in who can attend, but most of us know someone who has some connection to twins / triplets etc. It kind of blows my mind to think about what this event would be like! If you go, let me know what you thought :)
I'm New Here
Shadowfax Winery is actually not too far from my house, and they are holding their inaugural luxury day-out of fine wine, great food and smooth tunes on Sunday from 2pm, featuring a full line up of contemporary musical acts from neo-soul to cutting edge electronica. Taking place by the vines at the winery, sit back, relax and enjoy some of Melbourne’s best new music with a fully-catered selection of Shadowfax's restaurant menu and a selection of new release wines to match. For the menu think woodfired pizzas, salt and pepper calamari, pork sliders and much more delivered to your picnic rug or chair. Ummm ... yum!!!
What is your favourite activity to do on your birthday? You only get to pick one!
